Position

The Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) at New York University Abu Dhabi is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the project titled “Collaborative Multi-Robot Swarms in Unknown Environments.” Applicants should hold a doctorate degree in electrical, computer, or mechanical engineering, or a related field. A strong publication record is encouraged, and previous experience in areas such as distributed control and optimization, swarms, autonomous robots, embedded systems development, collaborative and adversarial control, and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) is preferred.

Candidates should have a strong background in robotics, controls, AI, and/or computer vision and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment with other researchers and students. Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills are essential.

The role involves working on projects related to the development of distributed multi-agent autonomous systems. Responsibilities will include designing distributed monitoring algorithms for multi-agent swarms, sensor data processing, data fusion, and multi-agent collaboration algorithms, as well as algorithm design and prototype implementation in MATLAB/Python and deployment to agents' autopilots using the Robot Operating System. A solid competency with tools used in autonomous robots and embedded systems (such as C, C++, Linux, MATLAB, Python, Robot Operating System, Ardupilot, Solidworks, Gazebo Physics Engine Simulator) is required.
