The Robot Learning & Control laboratory at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Associate with a strong background in robot control, machine learning, and differential geometry. Key Responsibilities:

  • Learning-Based Control: Develop reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and learning from demonstration (LfD) techniques.
  • Safe and Certified Control: Design control algorithms ensuring passivity, Lyapunov stability, and safety for human-robot collaboration.
  • Advanced Manipulation and Navigation: Enable robots to interact with complex, dynamic environments, including deformable objects and uncertain conditions.
  • Human-Robot Interaction: Create adaptive frameworks for effective collaboration in shared workspaces.
  • Integration of AI and Robotics: Leverage cutting-edge machine learning, including Large Language Models (LLMs), to enhance decision-making and planning.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Robotics, Control Theory, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing advanced control and learning algorithms, notably in human-robot interaction and with real robotic manipulators.
  • Highly motivated and research-oriented, with a strong drive to operationalize robotic systems.
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) is desirable; a strong motivation to explore this area is essential.
  • Strong publication record in high-impact journals and conferences.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools commonly used in robotics such as C++, MATLAB, Python, and ROS.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in an interdisciplinary research environment.
