About the Job:
The Division of Engineering at the company invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position under the supervision of Prof. Qurrat-Ul-Ain Nadeem in the NextG Wireless Lab. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research on the modeling, design, and performance analysis of emerging massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) architectures for next-generation wireless communications systems.

The candidate will investigate advanced MIMO paradigms, including continuous aperture MIMO, pre-optimized MIMO arrays, flexible intelligent metasurfaces, and tri-hybrid MIMO systems, with a particular emphasis on near-field propagation regimes relevant to ultra-massive MIMO systems. The candidate is expected to develop physically-consistent narrowband and wideband signal models for these frameworks and use them to analyze key performance indicators such as achievable rates, coverage, and energy efficiency, as well as optimize relevant system parameters.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree or terminal degree from a recognized institution in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, telecommunications, or a related field (no more than five years post receipt of this degree).
  • Proven track record of publications in IEEE Communications Society’s and IEEE Signal Processing Society’s journals and conferences.
  • Strong background in communication theory, signal processing, machine learning, and optimization theory.
  • Strong verbal and written skills in English.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and capacity to pursue independent research, as well as mentor graduate students.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Research background in one or more of the following areas: massive MIMO, near-field propagation, channel estimation.
  • Experience working with software defined radios and experimental testbeds for wireless communications systems.
