IBM Research invites applications for postdoctoral positions in IBM’s Materials Discovery Research team. We are seeking outstanding candidates who have obtained their Doctoral degree within the last five (5) years. Applicants who are currently finalizing their doctoral dissertations for examination may apply, provided that they will submit them by 31 December 2024. The positions are located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and will be offered as regular IBM employee positions. The contract duration is between 24 to 36 months.

Responsibilities
- Conduct research in computational chemistry.
- Collaborate with team members on innovative projects.
- Define research questions and formulate hypotheses.
- Develop innovative solutions using cutting-edge technologies.
Requirements
- Doctoral Degree completed within the last 5 years or expected to complete by December 2024, in Computer Science, Materials Science, or related fields with a strong computational modeling and programming focus.
- Expertise in Physics, Chemistry, and Materials Science; familiarity with Metal-Organic Frameworks for CO2 Direct Air Capture and/or CO2 Hydrogenation.
- Demonstrable research proficiency based on the scientific method.
- Familiarity with data science and machine learning/deep learning methods, including natural language processing.
- Notable programming experience in languages such as Python and C++.
- Experience in performing molecular simulations (e.g., Classical Molecular Dynamics, Density Functional Theory, or Grand Canonical Monte Carlo).
- Experience with process-scale simulation methods and techniques is a plus.
