Power System Automation Engineer

The role involves understanding and applying the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of power system automation, software integration, industrial controls, PLCs, industry protocols (IEC-61850, DNP, Modbus), Ethernet systems, and SCADA practices. Responsibilities include training and assisting customers with the design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and protection systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Possess and apply knowledge of power system automation and related products.
• Complete and implement assigned work within agreed upon scope, schedule, and budget to a high level of quality and safety.
• Participate in the preparation of functional design specifications and maintain detailed design documents, reports, and deliverables.
• Follow and apply company Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline
• 2+ years relevant application experience with electric power systems and automation
• Good knowledge of electric power system protection and control
• Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally a minimum of 25%
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
• Background check results satisfactory to company and negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer in Training certificate
• Experience in electrical utility, industrial plant, consulting engineering, or system integration
• Project engineering experience
• Working knowledge of project management tracking software
