Top Technical Requirements:

  • Proficient in using Altium or similar PCB design software for schematic capture, component library management, SPICE analysis, and layout design.
  • Extensive experience in designing electronic safety and arming devices adhering to military standards such as MIL-STD-1316.
  • Experience with advanced chips such as FPGA, MCUs, and DDR memories.
  • Expertise in layout design of advanced multilayer PCBs, including techniques like blind-buried vias, via-in-pad strategies, Ball Grid Array (BGA) configurations, and Surface-Mount Technology (SMT)/Plated-Through-Hole (PTH) components.
  • Ability to design PCBs for harsh environments typically encountered in military applications, utilizing special materials or design techniques.
  • Specialized expertise in designing embedded systems, integrating passive and active components within the PCB substrate.
  • Proficient in segregating analog and digital domains within PCB layouts to maintain signal integrity and minimize interference.
  • Skilled in drawing PCB layouts for power systems, including component placement, signal routing, power planes, and thermal management.
  • Capable of designing for low EMI and noise, incorporating proper grounding, shielding, and filtering.
  • Experience in generating data packs such as BOMs, Gerber files, and assembly drawings.
  • Ensure detailed and accurate documentation for complex printed circuit boards following applicable IPC and Military standards.
  • Mentor and train junior technical personnel.
  • Proficient with debugging tools such as integrated soft logic analyzers.
  • Knowledge of microcontroller and digital signal processor architectures to optimize PCB designs for specific applications.
  • Ability to mitigate ESD issues in PCB layout.
  • Conduct hardware testing and troubleshooting with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.

Knowledge/Qualification & Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in VHDL code writing.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Altium Designer.
  • Proven track record of successfully executing PCB designs in a defense context.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware related to PCB prototypes.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience in digital electronics, including power supply types (buck, boost, fly-back, inverters, DC/DC) and high-speed data handling within defense applications.
