Principal Forward-Deployed Engineer

About the Role
We're seeking a Tech Principal to lead technical strategy and execution for ambitious product projects within our global Customer Experience, Product, and Design team. As a Tech Principal, you will transform big ideas into actionable concepts, moving rapidly from concept to prototype and subsequently to live product, making a significant impact on clients.

This role requires a blend of strategy, architecture, AI engineering, and collaboration with executives, offering an excellent platform to apply your expertise.
The method you'll champion is known as 3/3/3:

• 3 days: Develop product concept where everyone agrees on scope, objectives, and success measures.
• 3 weeks: Create a working prototype that tests desirability, viability, and feasibility with real users.
• 3 months: Launch a production-grade minimum lovable product (MLP) ready to evolve.
  While this sequence serves as a guideline, the focus remains on aligning quickly, obtaining early evidence, and delivering usable products timely. AI is integrated throughout the lifecycle, influencing specification and design through to operations.

Who You'd Work With
You will collaborate in tightly-knit forward-deployed pods that include one Product Strategist, one Experience Designer, and two engineers. As the lead engineer, you'll guide architecture, delivery, and technical choices while working closely with strategists and designers as equal partners rather than relying on downstream requirements.
In larger programs, you may oversee multiple pods, each applying the 3/3/3 framework and possibly mixing various pod types based on engagement shape. Reporting to the Director of Technology for CXPD, you'll work alongside other Tech Principals as peers, contributing to the success of varied project sizes and complexity.

Job Responsibilities

• Shaping the Bet: Conduct concept sprints with stakeholders to outline testable ambitions and success criteria before code is written.
• Winning the Work: Collaborate with account leads to develop technical narratives for new projects, ensuring a clear understanding of pricing parameters regarding the technical scope.
• Proving It: Define the technical direction for prototypes, identifying what to build, fake, or buy, ensuring effective user testing for prototypes and establishing evaluations for AI-powered facets.
• Landing It: Create scalable and maintainable architecture, establishing delivery systems and maintaining architectural alignment on larger initiatives.
• Advising: Serve as a trusted tech advisor to stakeholders, providing technical options aligned with business outcomes and facilitating workshops and presentations.
• Developing Team Members: Mentor colleagues, promote best practices, and create reusable methods to strengthen team capabilities.

Job Qualifications
Technical Skills

• Proficient in Python or TypeScript, with knowledge of additional programming languages.
• Experience with LLM providers and frameworks, as well as AI evaluation techniques.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), DevOps practices, and software architecture principles.
• Experience in frontend development practices and governance under regulatory standards.
• Familiarity with data engineering and analytics platforms.

Your First Year, Roughly

• By three months: You'll have led a lighthouse engagement through a complete 3/3/3 cycle.
• By six months: You'll work across multiple markets, contributing to external stories.
• By a year: Other Tech Principals will utilize assets and coaching you've provided, enhancing your influence in product innovation.

Travel and Location
This role is based in Riyadh, with expected travel of around 40% throughout the GCC region and occasional global travel (10%) for gatherings and knowledge sharing.
