Principal Product Designer

About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Principal Product Designer to lead design work and manage a design pod within our AI-native portfolio. This includes personal AI agents, executive intelligence, agentic workflows, governance platforms, and domain-specific solutions. This role calls for an inventor, as you will be responsible for translating abstract visions—such as executive ambitions or emerging AI capabilities—into concrete, innovative products that users trust and utilize daily. Your contributions will help define how users delegate real tasks to autonomous systems while maintaining control over AI-driven outcomes, which can often be unpredictable.

Key Responsibilities
Vision and Strategy

• Define the product design vision, experience principles, and quality standards across the portfolio.
• Translate emerging AI capabilities into innovative product concepts and ensure they are shipped effectively.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Science teams to shape product strategy and roadmaps.
• Create use cases and high-level customer experiences from business and government requirements.
• Foster design thinking and optimize processes across the organization.

Building AI-native Apps, Not Just Interfaces

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, accommodating stakeholder inputs and navigating ambiguity.
• Lead discovery processes, UX research, journey mapping, interaction design, prototyping, usability testing, and production.
• Oversee the full life cycle of AI-native design projects from strategy to execution and launch.
• Design for scenarios where AI may be uncertain or fail, implementing checks to mitigate risks.
• Create intuitive experiences for AI agents, dashboards, workflows, and conversational interfaces.
• Make AI capabilities clear to users so they can better calibrate their trust based on expected performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure AI experiences align with product designs across all layers.
• Define evaluation metrics for successful user output, helping to establish test sets and review loops.

Design Systems, Best Practices, and Outcomes

• Establish scalable design systems across various platforms and ensure compliance with bilingual requirements.
• Develop high-quality design specifications and maintain the established quality bar across all projects.
• Ensure designs align with responsible AI practices, addressing AI disclosure and data-residency constraints.

Leadership and Influence

• Act as a hands-on leader while solving complex design challenges.
• Mentor and lead product designers, establishing high standards for design craftsmanship and strategic thinking.
• Present design work and concepts to various stakeholders, translating complex ideas clearly for diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of product design experience, including managing significant design initiatives.
• A robust online portfolio showcasing end-to-end product ownership and measurable outcomes.
• Proficient in user interface design best practices and interaction design.
• Expertise in the full life cycle of design projects from strategy to execution.
• Experience designing complex enterprise, SaaS, or data-rich products.
• Strong skills in user research, information architecture, prototyping, and usability testing.
• Expert level proficiency in Figma and other design/prototyping tools.
• Familiar with designing AI-powered products and understanding human–AI interaction dynamics.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Product Design, Interaction Design, Human–Computer Interaction, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI governance and decision-intelligence products.
• Familiarity with bilingual product design; Arabic proficiency is a plus but not necessary.
• Competency in coding or design-to-code workflows and voice/conversational design principles.
• Experience in regulated domains (healthcare, energy, finance, public sector) and in scaling design functions.
