About the Role
As Principal Product Manager for the company Compliance, you own the product strategy, roadmap, and commercial outcomes for our compliance portfolio, which includes counterparty due diligence (KYB & KYC), continuous counterparty and vessel monitoring, sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening, cargo screening, and the Counterparty Passport directory. You are responsible for translating regulatory obligations and customer risk appetite into products that maritime, trade, and financial institutions rely on for counterparty decision-making. This hands-on role requires minimal direction, allowing you to frame problems, evidence business cases, define solutions, and ensure accountability through launch, adoption, and revenue.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own, publish, and defend the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for the company Compliance portfolio, ensuring investment is directed at high-return opportunities grounded in customer usage, billing, and competitive evidence.
  • Define and continuously prioritize the product backlog across the compliance platform and its customer-facing applications, keeping engineering focused on high-impact work while maintaining a single ranked roadmap.
  • Grow established revenue lines (KYB onboarding, continuous screening/monitoring, due diligence reporting) to meet agreed ARR targets through expansion efforts in named accounts with Sales and Customer Success.
  • Lead the introduction of new propositions, such as the Counterparty Passport directory and embedded compliance across other business units, progressing each from business case through pilot to first paying customers.
  • Own pricing and packaging for the portfolio, maintaining an evidenced rate card and testing proposed changes against realized prices before implementation.
  • Translate regulatory obligations and customer risk policy into product requirements, facilitating customer compliance evidence for regulators and auditors.
  • Act as the senior product voice with enterprise customers, prospects, and partners, conducting discovery, demonstrations, workshops, and executive reviews to align the roadmap with real demand.
  • Define entity, counterparty, and screening data strategy regarding coverage, sourcing, quality, and match accuracy, establishing measurable quality targets.
  • Establish, instrument, and report the portfolio’s success measures (e.g., adoption, retention, revenue, KYB turnaround time) to provide the executive team an honest view of performance.
  • Raise the standard of product management across the compliance function by mentoring less experienced product colleagues.

Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Law, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Work Experience

  • 10+ years of total professional experience, including at least 6 years in product management and 3+ years at a lead or principal level owning a revenue-bearing product line end to end.
  • Substantial experience in banking, payments, or financial services, ideally in financial crime compliance or in a RegTech serving those institutions.
  • Proven track record of taking a compliance, risk, or data product from strategy through discovery and delivery to commercialization, achieving measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, prioritizing effectively and driving decisions across functions and time zones.
  • Experience owning pricing and packaging for B2B products, defending commercial cases to an executive audience.
  • Experience with data-intensive products: entity and counterparty master data, third-party data providers, and screening engines.
  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers’ Compliance, Risk, and Legal functions, including executive level interactions.
  • Experience delivering in an agile, remote-first environment.
  • Maritime, shipping, commodity trading, or trade finance experience is a strong plus.
