Position

The company is looking for an exceptional Principal Robotics Research Engineer to join our core robotics team. In this role, you will set the technical direction for our robotic systems research, covering areas such as perception, state estimation, motion planning, and control. You will translate fundamental advances into production-grade capabilities deployed on real hardware, acting as a force-multiplier for the broader engineering organization and driving both the science and systems that bring intelligent robots to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Research Leadership & Technical Direction:
    Identify breakthrough opportunities across the robotics stack and emerging AI paradigms; translate research insights into impactful and feasible product roadmap initiatives; publish at leading conferences and drive patent innovation.

  • Perception & AI:
    Architect multi-modal perception systems integrating various sensing technologies; lead research in 3D scene understanding and develop real-time AI architectures for robotic perception.

  • State Estimation & Sensor Fusion:
    Design robust SLAM systems; advance probabilistic and learning-based sensor fusion; oversee calibration, validation, and benchmarking frameworks.

  • Motion Planning & Control:
    Build planning frameworks for dynamic environments; lead research in advanced control methods; drive trajectory optimization for robotic motion generation.

  • System Integration & Deployment:
    Own end-to-end integration of systems; establish engineering standards; lead simulation and deployment optimization for onboard compute systems.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent research experience.
  • 10+ years of robotics research and engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in C++, Python, ROS, and ROS2, with experience in real-time safety-critical systems.
  • Proven leadership managing high performing engineering or research teams.
  • Experience taking robotics solutions from prototype to field deployment.
  • Strong communication skills across technical, product, and executive stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and GPU computing platforms.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English is required.
