ABOUT THE ROLE
The Principal Systems Engineer - Landing Gear will provide technical leadership for the design, integration, verification, and lifecycle management of landing gear systems for UAV/aerospace platforms. The role combines systems engineering and deep landing gear expertise, covering system architecture, requirements, landing loads, mechanical/hydraulic/electrical interfaces, safety, verification and validation, certification, and supplier technical management. The successful candidate will work closely with structural, mechanical, avionics, flight controls, safety, manufacturing, testing, and certification teams to ensure the landing gear system meets performance, safety, reliability, weight, integration, and regulatory requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the landing gear system architecture, design, and integration.
- Define and manage system requirements, specifications, and technical baselines.
- Develop and manage interfaces between landing gear, structure, hydraulics, avionics, and control systems.
- Lead landing gear sizing and configuration trade-off studies based on mission and landing requirements.
- Manage requirements, traceability, and verification using DOORS or equivalent tools.
- Support static loads, kinematic, dynamic, fatigue, and landing-load analyses.
- Lead/support system safety activities including FHA, FMEA, and PSSA/PSA.
- Develop and manage system verification and validation plans.
- Support ground and flight testing, including test requirements, instrumentation, data analysis, and verification reports.
- Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace, defence, airworthiness, and certification standards.
- Technically manage and monitor landing gear suppliers and subcontractors.
- Review supplier designs, technical deliverables, qualification evidence, and verification results.
- Manage system-level technical risks, interfaces, and integration issues.
- Support design reviews, certification activities, audits, and customer technical reviews.
- Support maintainability, lifecycle management, obsolescence, and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
- Provide technical leadership and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 15+ years of aerospace systems engineering experience, including at least 8 years of direct landing gear design and/or integration experience.
- Experience working on UAV, aircraft, or rotorcraft programmes.
- Strong experience in safety-critical aerospace system development.
- Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements, design, integration, verification, and validation.
- Strong knowledge of landing gear systems, including struts, shock absorbers, wheels, actuators, and retraction systems.
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system interfaces.
- Knowledge of V-model, MBSE, requirements management, and system safety.
- Experience with tools such as CATIA/SolidWorks, MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, or ADAMS.
- Experience with DOORS or equivalent requirements-management tools.
- Experience managing or technically monitoring aerospace suppliers.
- Strong knowledge of relevant aerospace standards and regulations.
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Willingness to relocate to the UAE and eligibility for UAE defence/security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
- INCOSE ASEP/CSEP certification.
- Experience with ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-160, DO-254, MIL-STD-810H, AS9100, GCAA, and/or EASA requirements.
- Experience with aircraft structural or landing gear analysis/design.
- Experience in system safety assessments, including FHA, FMEA, and PSSA/PSA.
- Experience with aircraft/UAV certification and qualification activities.
- Experience managing landing gear suppliers from design through qualification and integration.
- Knowledge of configuration management and PLM systems such as Teamcenter, Windchill, or ARAS.
- Experience with DFM, maintainability, and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC and environmental qualification requirements.
- Arabic language capability would be an advantage.
