Key Responsibilities:
- Define and enforce data architecture standards and best practices to ensure quality, scalability, performance, and data integrity.
- Perform technical assessments to determine hardware requirements and sizing for big data workloads.
- Design robust and scalable data ingestion, transformation, and storage pipelines using modern big data technologies.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to data engineering teams.
- Collaborate with the platform core development team as a subject matter expert on enhancing data management and processing components.
- Comply with organizational policies related to Quality, Health, Safety, Environment, and other relevant areas.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in data-intensive projects as a Big Data Engineer/Architect.
- Strong expertise in big data modeling and architecture best practices.
- Excellent knowledge of modern big data methodologies and technologies, including tools such as Spark, Kafka, Trino, Clickhouse, and S3.
- Solid computer science fundamentals; fluent in SQL and one of the general programming languages (Java or Python).
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and hands-on coding/code review skills.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, TOGAF).
- Experience with big data technologies and analytics platforms (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake).
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role, providing guidance during sales cycles or customer engagements.
