Position Overview:
The Principal Technical Architect (Big Data) will act as the strategic technical leader, responsible for designing, validating, and implementing robust and scalable architectures for data analytics and AI solutions. This role requires close collaboration with product, engineering, and sales teams to align technology solutions with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and enforce data architecture and standards to ensure quality, scalability, performance, and integrity.
- Conduct technical assessments to determine hardware requirements for big data workloads.
- Design robust and scalable data ingestion, transformation, and storage pipelines using modern big data technologies.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to data engineering teams for efficient project implementation.
- Collaborate with the platform core development team to improve data management and processing components.
- Ensure compliance with QHSE (Quality Health Safety and Environment), Business Continuity, Information Security, Privacy, Risk, Compliance Management, and Governance policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; a Master's is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in data-intensive projects as a Big Data Engineer/Architect.
- Strong expertise in big data modeling and architecture best practices, with proficiency in designing scalable data pipelines and integration workflows.
- Excellent knowledge of modern big data methodologies and technologies, including ingestion, batch and streaming processing, storage, and querying (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Trino, Clickhouse, S3).
- Solid computer science fundamentals, fluent in SQL and a general programming language (Java, Python).
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in software development and familiarity with product development lifecycles.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, TOGAF).
- Familiarity with big data technologies and analytics platforms (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake).
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role providing guidance during sales cycles or customer engagements.
