Major Responsibilities
- Lead and manage telecom systems and sub-systems design and development, ensuring effective coordination with various engineering discipline groups.
- Design and oversee onshore telecom networks, including SDH, OTN, DWDM, Gigabit Ethernet, wireless digital communications systems (HF, VHF, UHF, Tetra), serial communication systems, CCTV systems, information systems, telephone/data networks, structured cabling, PA/GA systems, and access control systems.
- Develop discipline work plans and supervise telecom engineers and technical personnel in project execution.
- Provide technical expertise and support in the specification, design, and selection of telecom systems.
- Manage all aspects of telecommunications engineering for assigned projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.
- Coordinate design changes within the project budget and schedule framework, ensuring seamless integration with project managers, engineers, procurement, and construction teams.
- Oversee preparation of design deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards.
- Interact effectively with clients for the approval of design deliverables and represent organizational competencies at various forums.
- Participate in preparation of Telecom specifications, data sheets, and other documentation, including Telecom design Basis, Coverage Study Reports, and system diagrams.
- Participate in site surveys and data collection for telecom design, alongside various workshops for design reviews, risk reviews, and value engineering.
- Ensure technical integrity and compliance of telecom deliverables with applicable international standards and safety regulations.
- Work on proposals and prepare cost estimations.
- Manage workshare processes with remote offices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of experience in executing Concept, FEED, and Detail Engineering for onshore and offshore oil and gas projects.
- Proven track record in engineering design for telecom systems, particularly in major projects.
- Experience in preparation and review of all telecom engineering deliverables, including telecom specifications and study reports.
- Solid understanding of good practices in field and control room layouts for oil and gas projects.
- Guidance on 3D modeling activities and preparation of scopes of work and technical evaluations for selecting telecom system integrators (TSIs).
- Extensive knowledge of applicable standards and regulations.
- Educational Background: Graduate Degree in Telecommunication Engineering; Chartered Engineer status is preferred.
- Familiarity with hazardous area classification and a solid understanding of HSE requirements.
- Strong computer skills, particularly with MS Office.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
- Capable of guiding teams and ensuring successful delivery in line with budget and schedule.
- Proficient in both verbal and written English, skilled in report writing and client presentations.
