What You'll Be Doing:
Tunnel and Geotechnical Design Leadership:
- Lead the geotechnical design of large-diameter (D > 10 m) TBM tunnels, including TBM crossovers and deep excavation methodology studies for stations and shafts.
- Direct vital assessments for adjacent structures, focusing on volume loss, settlement predictions, and protective measures.
- Predict TBM drive rates, control cutter interventions, and analyze ground treatment impacts.
- Own the numerical modeling strategy, conducting analyses on soil-structure interaction, groundwater, and seismic assessments.
Ground Investigation and Geotechnical Reporting:
- Collect and interpret existing ground investigation data to produce Geotechnical Interpretative Reports (GIR) and Geotechnical Baseline Reports (GBR).
- Define and manage ground investigation requirements for new projects, including technical specifications and tender documentation.
TBM Operations and Constructability:
- Conduct TBM optioning studies and document machine selection processes.
- Develop comprehensive TBM procurement plans with timelines and specifications, and prepare tunnelling logistics documentation.
Team, Resource and Sub-Consultant Management:
- Manage and mentor geotechnical and tunneling staff, overseeing resource allocation and quality control prior to submission.
- Support senior management in team development, including recruitment and contracting of specialist sub-consultants.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; an MSc or PhD in a relevant field is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years' post-graduate experience in geotechnical and tunnel engineering, with at least 3 years in a principal role on large-diameter TBM projects.
- Proven experience in TBM tunnel design, excavation methodologies, and damage assessments.
- Strong authorship of Geotechnical Interpretative Reports and experience managing ground investigation campaigns.
- Advanced user of numerical analysis software (PLAXIS 2D/3D, FLAC/FLAC3D, MIDAS GTS).
- Strong communication skills, dedication to technical excellence, and innovative delivery.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Experience within the UAE and GCC, particularly with RTA or Dubai Metro projects.
- Background with a specialist tunneling or geotechnical consultancy on major infrastructure programs.
- Familiarity with compressed-air and hyperbaric interventions, along with international tunneling codes.
- Experience working in an ISO 19650 BIM-compliant environment and as part of a common data platform.
- Chartered or professional registration (CEng MICE / MIStructE, PE, or equivalent).
