Responsibilities
Technical Competency

  • Support adherence to accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Standardize equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
  • Contribute to the understanding of technical knowledge and legal requirements whenever viable and lawful.
  • Utilize local/global standards to support technical excellence.
  • Support processes for checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
  • Ensure recognized onshore & offshore engineering practices applicable to process design are adopted.
  • Prepare design specifications for process works.

Project Execution

  • Understand compound scope/cost/time requirements, assist the team in meeting expectations and coordinate with other disciplines for project success.
  • Manage project change and progression for the discipline, collaborating with the Project Management Team to address issues, scope changes, and other events that could affect completion or profitability.
  • Plan discipline quality, monitor quality activities, recommend improvements, and take action where needed.
  • Provide technical support within the discipline team and liaise with project team members and relevant resources as required.
  • Coordinate review and approval of design and interfaces based on client requirements and specifications.
  • Prepare Process scope of work (SoW) and seek agreement from the supervising Senior/ Lead Process Engineer.
  • Estimate Process manhours using current TW Process manhour norms.
  • Ensure all work is checked and approved before issuance.
  • Maintain work progress (budget, schedule) and raise change documentation when necessary.
  • Supervise Process design work, budget, and schedule as requested by the Lead Process Engineer.

Project Deliverables

  • Gather data and prepare engineering studies, analyses, and calculations.
  • Identify technical issues, define alternate solutions, and recommend actions through project documents (technical queries, deviations, etc.).
  • Create final documentation and pursue customer approval.
  • Perform discipline-specific engineering services, including:
    • Identifying and reporting changes to project scope.
    • Assisting in the preparation of designs, specifications, data, calculations, and reports.
    • Supporting procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.

Quality Assurance

  • Work within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems.

Safety

  • Ensure compliance with personal safety and Occupational Health & Safety procedures.
  • Implement HSE in the design process, with a focus on process safety and best practices.

Job Specific Knowledge

  • Demonstrate commitment to HSE management within a project environment.
  • Intermediate understanding of regulations, codes, and industry standards.
  • Good knowledge of onshore & offshore engineering practices for oil and gas/refinery/petrochemical facilities.
  • Proficient in process calculations, equipment sizing, and hands-on experience with HYSYS simulation concepts.
  • Ability to deliver quality, accurate, and timely work to clients.
  • Familiarity with Shell DEP’s, API Standards (API-520, API-521, API-14C, API-14E), and statutory requirements.
  • Competent in using relevant process discipline-specific software.

Industry Specific Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of process engineering experience in oil and gas for offshore and onshore projects.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience in similar industries, involving multi-disciplinary projects and teams. Site experience is beneficial, and willingness to travel for onsite work is essential.
  • Excellent skills in process simulation for plants and pipelines are critical.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training

  • Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is mandatory; candidates without it must attain it within the probation period.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or pursuing it will be advantageous.

HSE Capability

  • Sustain a focus on HSE to ensure Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Commit actively to enhancing safety and environmental performance and identifying/reporting hazards.

IT Skills
Simulations

  • Aspen suite, Hysys, Pipesys, FlareNet, PRO-II.

Flow Assurance

  • PipeNet, Pipesim/SPS, PVTSim/OLGA, PipePhase, TLNET, Fathom.

People Skills

  • Work effectively in diverse teams, communicate clearly in English (verbal and written), and practice active listening with feedback.

Other

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, enthusiasm, persistence, and a willingness to learn and improve.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of various sizes and work within multidisciplinary teams.
