Key Responsibilities
- Perform process design review and verification across conceptual, FEED, and detailed engineering stages.
- Prepare and review process design basis, philosophies, and engineering calculations.
- Review and verify Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Heat & Material Balances (HMB).
- Review process datasheets, equipment lists, line lists, tie-in lists, fluid and load lists.
- Perform and review PSV relief load estimation and PSV sizing calculations.
- Review flare system calculations, knockout drum sizing, and associated hydraulics.
- Review pump, compressor, and rotating equipment process calculations including anti-surge and settle-out analyses.
- Review design of separators, columns, heat exchangers, tanks, and other process equipment.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and control valve sizing reviews.
- Interface with piping, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines during EPC execution.
- Participate in 3D model reviews and vendor technical document reviews.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculation notes, and design review comments.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international codes, standards, and project procedures.
- Conduct site visits as necessary for audits or verification activities.
Required Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing the following deliverables for Basic Engineering, FEED, or EPC projects:
- Design Basis
- Licensor Technology Evaluation
- PFD and P&ID Preparation and/or Review for Urea Plant
- Heat & Material Balance (HMB)
- Process data sheets, Equipment list, Line list, Load list, Tie-In list, Fluid list
- PSV Relief load estimation and sizing
- Flare and Knockout Drum sizing
- Pump and Compressor calculations (including anti-surge design and settle-out calculations)
- Steam generation and sizing calculations
- Design of Separators, Columns, Heat Exchangers, Tanks
- Hydraulic calculations, PSV sizing, Control valve sizing calculations
- Interface with engineers in other disciplines during the EPC stages
- 3D Model Review
- Vendor offer reviews
Software/Technical Skills & Tools
- Proficiency in process simulation and engineering software such as HYSYS, PROMAX, flare network analysis tools, and HTRI.
- Strong understanding of process design, sizing, and optimization techniques.
- Ability to critically review calculations and propose practical engineering solutions.
- Strong technical documentation and report-writing skills.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
Education
- B.Tech in Chemical Engineering / M.Tech in Chemical Engineering
- A minimum of 75% marks in engineering is mandatory.
Location
- Abu Dhabi, UAE
- The candidate may be required to occasionally visit project sites to conduct audits or verification activities.
