This role will be responsible for translating product requirements into functional, durable, and aesthetically pleasing designs.
Main Responsibilities
- Conceptual Design: Lead the ideation and conceptual design process for new underwater products, considering factors like hydrodynamics, user experience, and environmental resilience.
- CAD Modeling: Develop detailed 3D models and technical drawings using industry-standard CAD software for prototyping and manufacturing.
- Prototyping & Testing: Create physical prototypes and lead stress testing, including pressure and corrosion resistance, to validate design integrity.
- Materials Selection: Research and specify appropriate materials, finishes, and components that can withstand the harsh conditions of the marine environment.
- Manufacturing Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure designs are optimized for mass production and quality control.
Required Skills & Competencies
- A strong portfolio demonstrating a creative and effective approach to product design and aesthetics.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical principles, kinematics, and structural analysis.
- Expertise in materials suitable for underwater use, such as corrosion-resistant alloys, polymers, and composites.
- Proficiency in using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other simulation tools to test and validate designs virtually.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in product design, preferably with products for demanding environments like marine, aerospace, or medical devices.
- Expert-level proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA) and rendering tools.
