The Product Owner is responsible for defining and prioritizing the user stories in the team backlog. As a core member of the agile scrum team, this role drives quality control and validates that the delivered stories meet the defined acceptance criteria. The Product Owner will work with 1 – 2 scrum teams to ensure that the team understands the required features and functionality of products to be delivered in each iteration.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Product Manager to contribute to the product strategy, vision, and roadmap.
- Review and prioritize the team backlog during Iteration Planning, while coordinating dependencies with other Product Owners and accepting the final Iteration Plan.
- Continuously improve the backlog with the team, ensuring all items are clearly described, estimated, and prioritized.
- Ensure the scrum team understands the required features and functionality for each iteration.
- Detail features and user stories with acceptance criteria and acceptance tests.
- Accept features and user stories by validating that they meet acceptance criteria, persistently maintain acceptance tests, and comply with the Definition of Done (DoD).
- Facilitate regular demos with the team, showcasing the most critical aspects to stakeholders.
- Drive iteration retrospectives and lead discussions on improvements to increase velocity and quality.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 5+ years of experience working in product development or as a Product Owner.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is mandatory.
- Certification in Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner, or equivalent is desirable.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies including SAFe, Scrum, and Lean Portfolio Management.
- Proven track record in defining, delivering, and launching products successfully.
- Technical and business operations knowledge with demonstrated ability to drive solutions.
- Experience defining vision and strategy for a technical product.
- Recognized as an active team player with excellent communication and coordination skills, working effectively with multiple teams across the organization.
