Position

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) is seeking a Product Owner – Database to join our team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this role, you will have end-to-end responsibility for all our database solutions, focusing on strategic planning, functional team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to drive operational excellence and innovation. You will be optimizing the database landscape by adopting a hybrid model of traditional and cloud databases and evolving the product offering in alignment with developer requirements.

As the Product Owner, you will oversee the multi-year product vision that maximizes current and future business value across all areas of the organization. This includes maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog to ensure new product releases deliver value on time, within budget, and of high quality. Your expertise in technology and close relationships with key stakeholders will help align team efforts with the overall vision.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead strategic planning and execution of database installations, configurations, and maintenance.
  • Ensure optimal performance, high availability, and robust security of database systems.
  • Develop and enforce comprehensive database standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Manage a high-performing team of database administrators (DBAs) and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and compliant with industry standards and organizational policies.
  • Foster relationships with software developers, network administrators, and other IT professionals.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Manager or similar role, with knowledge of database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).
  • Experience in managing teams, leading agile projects, and formal project management qualifications (e.g. PMP, Agile).
  • Strong communication skills to influence stakeholders and lead teams effectively.
  • Experience with advanced database design, analytics, digital solutions, and disaster recovery processes.

Language Requirements: Proficient English communication skills are required to interact effectively with stakeholders at various levels.
