About the Role
We are seeking a Professional Support Lawyer for our Banking & Finance and Corporate service lines within the Knowledge Management department. This role focuses on producing and managing Cayman precedents, know-how, and client briefings, while assisting with the dissemination of legal and regulatory changes. Key Responsibilities
Know-how
- Prepare Banking & Finance and Corporate service line precedents, practice notes, and client briefings in collaboration with the Head of KM and Cayman partners, ensuring fee earners and clients are updated on legal and regulatory developments.
- Review current procedures and practices with partners to improve and standardize transaction processes, including facilitating process mapping.
- Stay abreast of relevant service line/jurisdictional legal, regulatory, and case law changes, revising client briefings and documents as necessary.
- Maintain a systematic approach to collecting know-how by managing precedent pipelines and developing strong relationships with fee earners to capture KM content from client transactions.
- Regularly review relevant jurisdictional/service line content on the firm’s KM intranet.
Precedents
- Manage the know-how for the Banking & Finance and Corporate service lines, maintaining a precedent bank, drafting notes, policies, and guidance.
- Deliver high-quality precedents that meet diverse client needs.
- Identify, review, and prepare documents suitable for automated document assembly.
Training
- Prepare and deliver training sessions to fee earners on KM documents and practices as needed.
- Assist in coordinating Banking & Finance and Corporate know-how meetings and contribute to the firm's legal development program.
- Lead weekly meetings for Banking & Finance and Corporate in the Cayman Islands.
AI and Legal Technology
- Promote the adoption of AI and legal technology tools within the service line.
- Develop, test, and maintain prompts, playbooks, agents, and other AI-enabled workflows to support legal work and knowledge delivery.
- Identify and help implement improvements in efficiency, quality, and client service through AI initiatives.
- Provide training and support to fee earners on the responsible use of AI tools.
- Collaborate with KM, IT, Risk, and business stakeholders on AI governance and continuous improvement.
- Act as a liaison between the service line, KM, and technology teams to provide feedback, test new functionalities, and support the rollout of new tools.
Other General Responsibilities
- Foster a culture of valuing and utilizing the firm’s knowledge.
- Assess fee earner participation and return on investment concerning KM resources.
- Work collaboratively with the wider PSL/KM team to ensure alignment in KM support across the firm and provide regular updates to partners.
- Undertake additional projects as they arise and are agreed upon.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Cayman Islands corporate/banking and finance lawyer with at least 4 years’ PQE.
- LLB (Hons) from a reputable institution with strong academic performance (minimum grade of 2:1 or equivalent).
- Experience with AI and legal technology is desirable.
- Prior experience in private practice.
- Strong communication skills with excellent drafting capabilities.
- Familiarity with the delivery of knowledge management systems is an advantage.
- A keen interest in advancing knowledge systems and enhancing access and understanding within the business.
- Responsive to the needs of fee earners and support staff regarding knowledge access.
