The F&C Portfolio Manager ensures the organization chooses the right projects, invests in them wisely, delivers them effectively, and ultimately realizes the intended strategic value. This role is responsible for managing the Business & Function CPMO Project Portfolio Managers, focusing on value, alignment, and enterprise-level decision-making. The manager provides governance and oversight of Function-wide Portfolio(s), ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery. The portfolio includes a specific collection of projects and programs aligned with the organization's strategy. The role involves collaboration with all functions of the office (Change, Value & Reporting, Integration & Governance), Delivery Teams (Tech/Non-Tech), and Business to define and operate execution governance.

Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the Governance Oversight of the Portfolio.
- Align the Project Portfolio to Corporate Strategy.
- Execution Governance of Portfolio.
- Accountable for adherence of Portfolio to the organization's governance including processes, reporting, and governance committees.
- Prepare and run monthly Portfolio Governance Committee; report Portfolio status/health, key highlights requiring management attention, and provide value-add insights and recommendations to Executive level.
- Monitor risks & issues at Portfolio level; provide timely & clear visibility where support is required to Senior Management and Executive Committees.
- Provide value-add insights and recommendations at Portfolio level to senior management, including Executive Committee level on an ongoing basis.
- Monitor system adoption and track benefits realization.
- Optimize Investment and Resource Allocation.
- Establish governance frameworks ensuring disciplined execution and controlled change.
- Drive Enterprise Visibility and Transparency.
- Define portfolio dashboards, KPIs, and reporting structures.
- Identify risks early across the entire change agenda.
- Maintain clarity on dependencies, timelines, and impacts.
- Ensure benefits are defined upfront and embedded in business cases.
- Track benefits realization after projects go live.
- Steer delivery teams toward outcomes, not just deliverables.
- Plan the portfolio effectively.
- Engage with Business/Technology/Enablement & Control teams outside the CPMO office to understand the portfolio’s strategic objectives.
- Ensure portfolio projects align with the organization's strategy and provide quantifiable business value.
- Initiate annual demand process with Business/Technology/Enablement & Control teams outside the office.
- Participate in demand prioritization with the Value & Reporting team for the portfolio and assist in consolidating all requirements.
- Review financials of portfolio with the 360 Value team.
- Define a master resource plan to understand the skills and number of people required to run the portfolio of projects successfully and review it with the Change Team.
- Manage and ensure a portfolio is delivered.
- Build a culture of accountability, transparency, and strategic focus.
- Develop project/portfolio management maturity.
- Coach executives and delivery teams on portfolio thinking.
- Work with Integration & Governance team to develop a master plan for the portfolio of projects.
- Identify interdependencies and engage with Business/Technology/Enablement & Control teams to ensure alignment and swift action on dependencies.
- Educate and provide support to Business/Technology/Enablement & Control teams on PMO processes and templates.
- Engage proactively with Change team to ensure staffing is available for current and future projects while measuring and tracking team productivity.
- Ensure project transitions to Value & Reporting team for value tracking and realization upon closure within a portfolio.
- Prepare Portfolio-level status reports and participate/present in portfolio-level governance forums.
- Provide relevant data requests/updates to Integration & Governance team as required on an ad-hoc basis.
- Work closely with program managers to resolve issues and handle escalations.
- Propose best practices for efficient management principles, processes, tools, and templates, ensuring they are continuously maintained.
Requirements / Qualifications
- University Degree in Technology, Management, or equivalent.
- Experience working with Banking IT or PMO.
- Total experience of 15+ years.
- Minimum of 5 years overseeing or running large programs of work.
- Previous experience providing reporting for and presenting to Executive level.
- Previous experience engaging directly with SVP level to review challenges with a guiding and challenging ability as required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in managing portfolios, project governance, and delivery.
- Experience managing a team size of 5-10 people.
- PMP, PRINCE2 (or equivalent) certified.
- S@Fe certified (or other agile certification).
Skills
- Experience in processing large amounts of data points and refining them into clear, concise reports for Executive level with recommendations, options, and/or insights.
- Experience creating and presenting reports/packs for senior management, including executive level.
- Ability to provide information concisely and clearly to Executives; both verbal and written.
- Experience in overseeing/managing more than 5 projects/programs concurrently.
- Experience engaging with Executives, providing management-level insights and accountability.
- Expertise in portfolio management and portfolio planning.
- Experience handling multiple programs with interdependencies and proactively resolving issues.
- Experience in managing various project management delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Experience working with a cross-functional team.
- Good stakeholder management capability and experience in working with senior management.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications; PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and deliver within tight deadlines.
- Willingness to learn, collaborate, and demonstrate a high level of integrity with discretion in handling highly confidential information.
- Ability to supervise, coach, and develop junior team members.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and capability to handle highly confidential information appropriately.
Preferred / Beneficial
- MBA or equivalent master’s degree is preferred.
