Position

As our global footprint continues to expand, we are seeking a Project Engineer in Dubai who will specialize in Low-Voltage and Medium-Voltage Switchgear & Transformer Testing. You will be dedicated to the Energy & Industrial Automation division, managing and delivering new engineering projects from start to finish throughout the entire project lifecycle in accordance with relevant IEC, UL, and International Safety standards.

Location: Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Work Conditions: On-site, Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Independently determine project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation, and establish project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements based on client input and available data.
  • Projects may involve frequent travel to conduct or witness tests at external labs or client sites.
  • Initiate communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services; follow up on client contacts.
  • Discuss technical issues with clients, explain procedures and requirements, communicate project costs, and negotiate completion dates and sample requirements.
  • Address client concerns and resolve complex issues.
  • Provide technical assistance to clients regarding product inspection and follow-up services.
  • Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer’s information, examining samples, and applying requirements.
  • Identify areas where products do not comply with requirements or where changes in project scope or specifications occur and notify clients.
  • Coordinate complex laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions for technicians and establishing completion dates.
  • Serve as Project Handler of record and sign as Reviewer of record as assigned.
  • Communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports.
  • Develop requirements for testing products beyond existing standards or for those with unique features, requiring independent judgment.
  • Represent the company on technical committees or at industry-related functions such as seminars and trade shows.
  • Direct and review the work of assigned staff. Train office, field, and/or laboratory staff and entry-level engineers.
  • Provide technical assistance in several product categories, operations, or systems to laboratory and/or field staff.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program.
  • Five years of directly related work experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory testing apparatus and techniques relevant to the discipline.
  • Experience with IEC 61439, IEC 62271 series of standards, IEC 61921, IEC 62208, and IEC 60076.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17065, and ISO/IEC 17020.
