We are seeking a Project Manager for our Devices business at Canonical. In this role, you will coordinate and complete complex, customer-facing projects, overseeing all aspects of delivery and serving as the primary liaison between our engineering teams and customers. Projects will involve delivering Ubuntu images on diverse devices, including robots, edge gateways, IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage projects throughout their entire life cycle, ensuring goals for both Canonical and clients are achieved.
- Deliver engineering professional services for assigned projects.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on custom board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery.
- Draft and maintain project-specific schedules and plans.
- Obtain client agreement on project schedules and work items.
- Manage risk mitigation and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
- Advocate for suitable technologies from Canonical's product offerings.
- Support different time zones and work non-traditional hours as needed.
Requirements:
- Proven project management experience in delivering engineering services and managing software development teams.
- Experience working with multicultural and multi-continent project resources.
- Educational background in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and open-source software, with an understanding of computer architecture.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Leadership and problem-solving skills, with experience in building successful partnerships in complex environments.
- PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
