Position

In this role, you will be responsible for analysing, validating, and optimising thermodynamic and aerodynamic cycle performance models of propulsion systems, including micro turbojets and turbofan engines. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support engine and component design, development, and testing activities across the full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development and refinement of steady-state and transient engine cycle models from preliminary design through production.
  • Conduct engine cycle matching, identifying station discrepancies and applying corrections to ensure physically consistent performance behaviour.
  • Optimise engine performance cycles to balance thrust, fuel consumption, and thermal constraints across key operating conditions.
  • Collect, process, and analyse engine and test rig data to calibrate cycle performance models.
  • Validate whether engine performance meets technical requirements (thrust, endurance, efficiency, operability) and provide structured feedback to design teams.
  • Collaborate with test teams to define and align test plans and procedures in accordance with PTC 22 and ISO 2314 standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Thermal Power Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5–8 years experience, or PhD + 4 years minimum in gas turbine engine performance engineering.
  • Experience with 0D engine cycle modelling tools (e.g., GasTurb, NPSS, TTECTrA).
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink or Python scripting.
  • Hands-on experience in engine or test rig setup, execution, and data acquisition.
  • Strong understanding of aero engine performance, thermodynamics, and aerothermal systems.
  • Excellent communication and technical reporting capability.
