This role is a general track for Python engineers at all levels, ideal for those who are passionate about open-source software and innovative technologies. Candidates will contribute to various codebases that may run on servers, Kubernetes, desktops, or as web services for Ubuntu clients. Engaging with the broader open-source community and helping build a thriving ecosystem is a key aspect of this position.

Work Conditions:

  • Full-time, Remote with global travel twice a year for company events (up to two weeks each)

Responsibilities:

  • Write high-quality, well-designed, and tested Python software.
  • Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team.
  • Display technical leadership and contribute to community engagements.
  • Debug issues and produce high-quality code fixes.
  • Contribute to technical documentation aimed at making it the best in its class.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic track record (high school and university).
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a compelling narrative for alternative paths.
  • Professional written and spoken English.
  • Experience with Python development, especially modern and maintainable practices.
  • Understanding of Linux (preferably Debian or Ubuntu).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on performance and detail orientation.
  • Ability to travel globally for team events.

Additional Skills That May Be Beneficial:

  • Experience with container technologies (e.g., LXD, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of build systems and toolchains.
  • Proficiency in additional languages (Golang, Rust, C, or C++).
  • Understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience in performance engineering and security best practices.
