Roles and Responsibilities
- Establish Inspection Test Plan (ITP) and ITP Matrix for inspectors to control the inspection work.
- Distribute tasks to inspectors responsible for the discipline.
- Implement quality training for construction and quality staff.
- Promote Risk Management Systems in construction and suggest countermeasures.
- Ensure the application of lessons learned and proper preventive actions are conducted.
- Set and apply practical work processes, including preparing Quality Procedures/ITPs and reviewing construction procedures/method statements.
- Establish Quality Performance Indicators and manage actual results.
- Coordinate and monitor with other disciplines to provide corrective actions.
- Liaise with clients on quality-related matters, including quality issues, NCRs, and observations.
- Manage work activities through system management tools (FMCS, SCMS).
- Identify and mitigate quality risks.
- Conduct audits and inspections.
- Assemble cost control and statistical data in support of quality objectives, as needed.
Discipline Specific
- Application of welding processes and techniques.
- Knowledge of welding materials and consumables.
- Understanding of welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, AWS).
- Knowledge of NDT techniques (e.g., radiography, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle inspection, liquid penetrant inspection).
- Quality control and inspection techniques for welding and NDT.
- Awareness of welding and NDT documentation requirements.
Job Specific
- Applications related to pipelines, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and structural steel.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant field.
Experience
- 15+ years of direct work experience in inspection of capital projects quality.
- Familiarity with project specifications and standards, and experience with medium to large-sized projects.
- Direct experience in oil, gas, petrochemical, or power plant sectors.
- Engineering and construction company experience in the GCC region.
Knowledge or Certification
- Certification in NDT Level II or higher.
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification.
Technical and Behavioral Competency
- Expert knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficient in advanced inspection techniques and tools, material testing methods, and documentation.
- Understanding of project management principles.
- Expertise in establishing processes and systems utilizing FMCS and SCMS.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems effectively.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in pipelines, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and structural steel.
