Key Responsibilities:
- Define product specifications, features, and functionalities, while ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop product designs in accordance with Product Standards (e.g., IEC61439 & UL857).
- Conduct 3D modeling and 2D drafting of product designs.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the product development team.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and partners to source components and materials.
- Follow the department's NPDI process and manage relevant documentation.
- Stay current with technological advancements and industry developments.
- Build prototypes to support product design development.
- Adhere to the Engineering change process for existing products.
- Complete Product Risk Assessment through DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis).
- Organize drawings and documentation for efficient reference.
- Respond timely and accurately to requests for design information and drawings.
- Execute other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/design technology or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling using Creo, Solidworks, or equivalent 3D design package.
- Experience in 3D modeling, 2D drafting (first and third angle projection), and GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Proficiency with product lifecycle management (PLM) software and other relevant applications.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Possess strong problem resolution, analysis, and decision-making skills.
- Motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to collaborate with others and work independently.
Experience Required:
- 3+ years of experience in Design within the manufacturing environment or directly related experience.
- Experience with power distribution applications and/or the data center industry is advantageous.
- Experience designing mild steel sheet welded assemblies and extruded/injection molded plastic parts and assemblies.
- Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), DFE (Design for Environment).
- Familiarity with process flow, PFMEA, control plans, and standard operating procedure preparation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business applications such as Smartsheet is desirable.
