We are seeking a dynamic R&D / Product Development Engineer to contribute to the innovation and enhancement of our busbar trunking product line. Responsibilities:
- Define product specifications, features, and functionalities while ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop product designs in accordance with product standards (e.g., IEC61439 & UL857).
- Perform 3D modeling and 2D drafting of product designs.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the product development team that encourages creative thinking and idea generation.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and partners to source components and materials.
- Adhere to the department's New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI) process and complete relevant documentation.
- Stay current with technological advancements and industry developments to enhance product offerings.
- Build prototypes to support product design development.
- Follow the Engineering change process for existing products.
- Conduct product risk assessments through Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Organize drawings and documentation for efficient reference.
- Provide timely, accurate responses to requests for design information and drawings.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/design technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling using Creo, Solidworks, or an equivalent 3D design package.
- Experience in 3D modeling, 2D drafting (first angle and third angle projection), and GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Proficiency in product lifecycle management (PLM) software and other relevant applications.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Action and detail-oriented with strong problem resolution, analysis, and decision-making skills.
- Motivated and enthusiastic, comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
Experience Required:
- 3+ years of experience in design within a manufacturing environment or directly related experience.
- Experience with power distribution applications and/or the data center industry is advantageous.
- Familiarity with designing mild steel sheet welded assemblies, extruded/injection molded plastic parts and assemblies.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Environment (DFE).
- Understanding of process flow, PFMEA, control plans, and Standard Operating Procedure preparation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; experience with Smartsheet and other business applications is desirable.
- Demonstrated competence in communication and problem-solving.
Language Requirements:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
