Key Responsibilities:
- Define product specifications, features, and functionalities while ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop product designs in accordance with Product Standards (e.g., IEC61439 & UL857).
- Perform 3D modeling and 2D drafting of product designs.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the product development team, encouraging creative thinking and idea generation.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and partners to source components and materials.
- Adhere to the department's NPDI process and complete relevant documentation.
- Stay updated on technological advancements and industry developments, applying knowledge to enhance product offerings.
- Build prototypes to support product design development.
- Follow the Engineering change process for existing products.
- Conduct Product Risk Assessment through DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis).
- Organize drawings and documentation for efficient reference.
- Provide timely and accurate responses to requests for design information and drawings.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/design technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling using Creo, Solidworks, or equivalent design package.
- Experience in 3D modeling, 2D drafting (first-angle and third-angle projection), GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Proficiency in product lifecycle management (PLM) software and other relevant applications.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Action and detail-oriented, with strong problem resolution, analysis, and decision-making skills.
- Motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to interact effectively with other departments, both independently and as part of a team.
Experience Required:
- 3+ years of experience in design within the manufacturing environment or directly related experience.
- Experience with power distribution applications and/or the data center industry is advantageous.
- Knowledge of designing mild steel sheet welded assemblies, and extruded/injection molded plastic parts and assemblies.
- Familiarity with DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFE (Design for Environment).
- Knowledge of process flow, PFMEA, control plan, and standard operating procedure preparation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; knowledge of Smartsheet and other business applications is desirable.
- Demonstrated competence in communication and problem-solving.
