The Regional Customer Application Engineer is responsible for positioning the company's products and configurations with customers prior to the firm bid tendering phase, collaborating with the Account/Sales Manager. This role requires a deep understanding of the customer, their business model, market economics, technical requirements, and key drivers for each opportunity. Key Responsibilities
- Own pre-ITO technical deliverables for all typical opportunities directly from assigned account managers. For complex opportunities, may own with support from the broader applications team or support a more experienced AE team member.
- Gather information from customers and other sources about each opportunity and the customer’s development plan, strategy, and evaluation method.
- Inform customers about the company's technology and solutions through in-person and online presentations.
- Use thermodynamic modeling software to model Simple Cycle (SC), Combined Cycle (CC), and Combined Heat & Power (CHP) plants.
- Conduct economic life-cycle evaluation analysis of the company's and competitor solutions for projects prior to formal Request For Proposal (RFP).
- Work closely with New Unit Sales and within the broader Applications Engineering and Product Line Management teams to ensure optimum competitiveness for the company.
- Proactively assess product fit and define a strategy to best position the company prior to firm bid, including Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine, Aeroderivative Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator, and Heat Recovery Steam Generator.
- Respond to customer requests for technical information prior to RFP, including providing transmission interconnect data and emissions data for permitting.
- Analyze and report on regional customer needs and trends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 1 year prior experience in engineering, construction, or operation of large power plants.
- Ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time.
Desired Characteristics
- Good knowledge of Gas Power products and technology (Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine and/or Aeroderivatives, Steam Turbines, CC, CHP), processes, and organizational structure.
- Proven analytical skill set and strategic mindset.
- Strong grasp of power plant thermodynamics and modeling, as well as project economic modeling knowledge.
- Self-driven with the ability to work in both regional and global teams.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
