About the Job
The company Government Solutions (VGS) brings the company’s consumer, commercial, money movement, and value-added solutions to public sector clients globally. In this regional Director role, you will lead the commercial payments agenda for VGS in CEMEA, helping governments and public sector organizations modernize expenditure across procurement, travel, fleet, employee benefits, lending, and related payment flows.
You will work closely with regional VGS sales teams, the company Commercial Solutions (VCS) team, the Regional Head of GTM & Commercialization, and the Global Head of VGS Commercial Payments to develop growth strategies, partnerships, and go-to-market plans that position the company as a leading partner for Government-to-Business (G2B) payments.
This is an opportunity to combine deep commercial payments expertise with strategic thinking, market insight, and cross-functional influence. You will turn regional opportunities, client needs, and ecosystem trends into practical solutions that accelerate VGS growth and support the company’s broader 2030 roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Drive regional growth for VGS Government-to-Business (G2B) commercial payment solutions in partnership with dedicated VGS sales teams.
- Develop and own segment and vertical strategies that use the company capabilities, enhanced propositions, and external partnerships to position the company competitively and grow share.
- Partner with the Global Head of Commercial Payments, VGS, and regional/global VCS teams to identify product, software, and capability gaps, and build prioritization cases for enhancements.
- Shape two-sided go-to-market strategies that serve both government buyers and industry sellers, improving client outcomes and driving incremental the company revenue.
- Identify and evaluate external commercial enabler partnerships, including technology providers, marketplaces, ERPs, system integrators, TMCs, e-invoicing providers, issuers, and acquirers.
- Work with local, regional, and global the company teams to address solution, pricing, rules, regulatory, or acceptance challenges that may limit competitiveness.
- Maintain a strong understanding of relevant the company capabilities across commercial solutions, acceptance, money movement, value-added services, and emerging technologies.
- Explore how AI and other emerging technologies can improve public sector commercial payment strategies and support regional sales effectiveness.
- Develop thought leadership and sales enablement materials that build market understanding and strengthen the VGS commercial payments narrative.
- Equip CEMEA VGS sales teams with the technical knowledge, tools, and messaging needed to identify and convert commercial payments opportunities.
Skills/Competencies
- Deep commercial payments expertise is essential, along with the ability to understand complex client processes, identify where the company solutions can add value, and communicate that opportunity clearly to senior stakeholders.
- The ideal candidate will bring curiosity and passion for payments, fintech, and public sector transformation, combined with strong client relationship skills, executive presence, resilience, and the ability to execute against ambitious goals.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in commercial cards, B2B payments, commercial issuing, or related payment solutions.
- Proven background in a card scheme, global issuer, travel or ERP platform, B2B fintech, payments technology provider, or equivalent environment.
- Deep knowledge of the global payments industry, with strong regional market understanding relevant to CEMEA.
- Strong understanding of commercial payment flows, two-sided network economics, acceptance, issuer dynamics, solutioning, commercialization, and go-to-market models.
- Experience developing strategies across multiple markets, ideally within a regional or matrixed global organization.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders, build internal networks, and translate complex payment concepts into clear commercial narratives.
- Comfort working without direct authority across sales, product, strategy, partnerships, commercialization, and VCS teams.
- Experience working with issuers or ecosystem partners to develop, commercialize, or scale commercial payment solutions.
- Familiarity with government procurement, public sector sales cycles, compliance requirements, or public sector go-to-market approaches.
