This role provides independent second-line decisioning of Corporate Credit Risk across MENAT for Corporate Banking, Global Network Banking, and assigned wholesale portfolios. You’ll own regional credit risk appetite, decision quality, portfolio performance, and the oversight of concentrations and emerging risks while ensuring consistent application of Group and regulatory standards. The role includes delegated lending authority on material exposures and advisory support to higher sanctioning authorities on complex transactions. You’ll represent the function in senior governance forums and engage with regulators and auditors across a rapidly evolving risk environment. Success means timely, well-evidenced decisions with no material policy breaches, strong early-warning and remediation, and portfolio outcomes that stay within appetite and plan.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Set regional credit risk appetite and underwriting standards across sector, country, concentration, and escalation within Group policy.
  • Approve or recommend material new, renewal, and restructuring proposals within delegated authority.
  • Own independent second-line oversight of Corporate Credit Risk across MENAT for assigned wholesale portfolios including concentrations, emerging risks, and impairments.
  • Govern portfolio reviews and early-warning actions across Watch, Worry, Monitor, impaired, and recovery exposures.
  • Embed consistent application of regulatory, climate, transition, reputational, and fraud risk requirements.
  • Influence strategy and transaction structures through constructive, independent review and timely escalation to governance forums.
  • Deputise for the Regional Chief Credit Officer in relevant forums and represent the function with senior executives, regulators, and auditors.

What We're Looking For

  • Substantial wholesale credit risk and/or corporate banking experience ideally with senior sanctioning and multi-market experience.
  • A track record of assessing complex corporate, project, trade, asset-backed, and capital-markets exposures.
  • Deep capability in risk appetite setting, portfolio oversight, and concentration management across diverse markets.
  • Strong knowledge of impairment, problem exposures, and relevant regulatory standards in wholesale credit.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to make independent decisions under time pressure on large and complex exposures.
  • Clear communication and effective stakeholder influence with senior executives across business, product, and risk teams.
  • Effective oversight of systems, data, and management information to strengthen portfolio insight and decision quality.
  • Hold an MBA, ACA, CFA, ACIB, or equivalent certification, or bring equivalent demonstrable experience.

Setting MENAT’s Credit Standards

If you want to shape how corporate credit risk is assessed and governed across MENAT, this role offers real scope to influence outcomes at scale. You’ll combine delegated authority on significant exposures with regional oversight of appetite, portfolio performance, and emerging risk. The work is varied and high impact with regular engagement across senior governance forums and external regulators. If this matches the work you want to do, we’d welcome your application.

Benefits and Commitment

A commitment to a culture where all employees are valued, respected, and their opinions count. The organization fosters continuous professional development, flexible working, and opportunities for growth within an inclusive and diverse environment. Emphasizes that diversity brings benefits for customers, business, and people, encouraging innovation, risk management, and sustainable growth.
