Research Assistant – Center for Smart Engineering Materials

About the Job:
The Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM) at the company is inviting applications for a Kawader fellow in the areas of thermal, mechanical, and electrical characterization of materials. The selected candidate will work as a research fellow with the CSEM and the Smart Materials Lab (Naumov research group).

Responsibilities include preparing, characterizing, and testing new smart materials, focusing on both experimental and modeling aspects of the effects of temperature on mechanical properties, such as the ability for elastic or plastic deformation. The role involves conducting experiments related to assigned research projects, processing data, preparing results for presentation in articles and conferences, and submitting biweekly reports on research progress. The candidate will participate in group seminars and will also be expected to train students or interns on techniques related to their research domain.

Qualifications:

• Strong background in thermal or mechanical characterization of surface and bulk properties of solids, with a focus on solid-state physics or mechanical engineering.
• Experience in experimental skills and/or modeling related to characterization of thermal and mechanical properties.
• A strong publication record in engineering or science is preferable.
• Ability to work on individualized research projects under the supervision of Prof. Panče Naumov.
