New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Research Assistant to work within the newly established Abu Dhabi Precision Medicine Virtual Research Institute (ADPMVRI), supervised by Prof Bas Rokers. The Institute aims to develop a comprehensive research infrastructure, where diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment are tailored to each patient. It will provide platforms specific to the most common non-communicable diseases in Abu Dhabi, centered on biomarkers quantifying disease state, stratifying disease subtypes, and monitoring disease progression.

In the context of brain health research, the Institute aims to identify markers predictive of perceptual and cognitive impairment in health conditions prevalent in the region, such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis, obesity, and normal vs. traumatic brain aging. The appointed applicant is expected to develop and deploy solutions to manage and analyze large amounts of neuroimaging, genomics, and health-related data.
Qualifications:
- Must have a background in database management, neuroimaging and/or genomics data analytics, and machine learning and artificial intelligence applications.
- Required programming experience with MATLAB, Python, shell scripting, and UNIX/LINUX environments.
- Familiarity with a high-performance computing environment is ideal.
- Candidates must possess a Master’s and/or Bachelor’s degree with several years of experience in Computer Science, Psychology, Neuroscience, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a relevant STEM field.
