The Center for Technology and Economic Development (CTED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a Research Assistant for a one-year period specializing in blockchain projects. The anticipated appointment is expected to start no later than September 1, 2024 (or earlier). The Research Assistant will play an integral role in supporting research efforts, data analysis, and overall coding tasks for CTED’s projects. The individual will conduct research on blockchain applications regarding labor migration and commodities markets, as well as undertake miscellaneous tasks under the direction of Principal Investigator, Dr. Yaw Nyarko.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research primarily related to blockchain and its application to labor migration and commodities.
- Assist with field research projects and data analysis.
- Create blockchain applications and experimental designs.
- Prepare literature reviews and translate research findings.
- Generate research reports, concept notes, and academic papers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Extensive coding experience is required, preferably with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and MATLAB.
- Strong writing skills and a keen interest in economic and quantitative research.
- Experience conducting field research in emerging countries and working on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) is preferred.
- Experience or knowledge in blockchain, commodities markets, labor migration, and technology and economic development is a plus.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Language Requirements: Proficiency in English is expected.
