Research Assistant in the Center for Technology and Economic Development (CTED) (Blockchain Project)

The Center for Technology and Economic Development (CTED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a Research Assistant for a one-year period, starting no later than September 1, 2024 (or earlier). The Research Assistant will support research efforts, data analysis, and coding tasks related to CTED’s projects, specifically focusing on blockchain applications in labor migration and commodities markets. Responsibilities include conducting research, performing data analysis, creating blockchain applications, and assisting with fieldwork related to commodities markets.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and MATLAB.
• Strong writing skills.
• Interest and knowledge in economic and quantitative research, particularly in blockchain applications.
• Experience conducting field research in emerging countries and working on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) is preferred.

The successful applicant will work in a multi-disciplinary environment, autonomously and as part of a team under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Yaw Nyarko.
