Research Assistant in the Division of Science (Computer Science) - Dr. Nizar Habash

The New York University Abu Dhabi Computational Approaches to Modeling Language (CAMeL) Lab is seeking a new research assistant to join its team. The successful candidate will work on developing open-source tools and resources and will be involved in publications related to the lab's research areas. CAMeL's mission focuses on artificial intelligence, specifically in natural language processing, computational linguistics, and data science. Key research areas include:

• Arabic natural language processing (orthography normalization, grammatical error correction, morphology tagging, syntax parsing, readability assessment)
• Machine translation
• Text analytics

Since its establishment in 2014, the CAMeL Lab has produced over 180 publications and 20 language resources and tools, aiming to advance knowledge in the field.

Location: New York University Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates
Work Conditions: On-site, Full-time

Qualifications:

• A degree in computer science or computer engineering (BS or MS).
• Experience in natural language processing or computational linguistics/language technologies is preferred.
• Strong programming and software engineering skills, along with machine learning experience.
• Some research publication experience is required.
• Knowledge of the Arabic language is preferred but not required. Previous work on Arabic NLP is also a plus.
