Research Assistant in the Division of Science (Computer Science) - Dr. Nizar Habash

The New York University Abu Dhabi Computational Approaches to Modeling Language (CAMeL) Lab is seeking a new research assistant to engage in various lab research areas, contribute to the development of open-source tools and resources, and work on publications. The CAMeL Lab is focused on research and education in artificial intelligence, specifically in natural language processing, computational linguistics, and data science. Key research areas include Arabic natural language processing (orthography normalization, grammatical error correction, morphology tagging, syntax parsing, readability assessment), machine translation, and text analytics. Since its establishment in 2014, the CAMeL Lab has produced over 180 publications and 20 language resources and tools.

Candidates should ideally have a BS or MS in computer science or computer engineering, with a preference for those with experience in natural language processing or computational linguistics. Strong programming, software engineering skills, and machine learning experience are required. Research publication experience is preferred. Knowledge of the Arabic language is preferred but not mandatory; prior work on Arabic NLP is also a plus.
