The Center for Quantum and Topological Systems (CQTS) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Research Assistant in the area of Quantum Computing, focusing on both the hardware and software aspects. The research can primarily be centered on two areas:
- Quantum Computing Software: As current advancements in software are outpacing hardware, there is a pressing need for quantum simulators. This role will involve the development of quantum computing languages capable of simulating quantum processes on classical computers, underpinned by a fundamental understanding of the quantum materials likely to inform the hardware.
- Quantum Computing Hardware: The candidate will explore various approaches for building quantum computers, with a focus on using spin resonance for more accessible prototypes and the development of topological materials for robust quantum computing.
The project offers opportunities to engage in individual and team-based work on topics such as implementing and simulating (topological) quantum gates, verifying simulations, and constructing simulations of desired quantum programs.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Conduct interdisciplinary research in topological and/or quantum systems aligned with the center's goals.
- Collaborate with faculty and participate in center activities, including workshops, training sessions, and conferences.
- Work on individualized research projects under faculty supervision.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Communication Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry, or Physics.
Preferred Education:
- Master’s degree in one of the above fields.
Required Work Experience:
- Research experience in areas such as:
- Quantum software
- Quantum circuits/simulations
- Quantum hardware/condensed matter physics
- Quantum theory/Mathematics
Preferred Work Experience:
- Experience or potential for interdisciplinary research.
