The CAMeL Lab focuses on a range of critical research areas in NLP, computational linguistics, and data science, particularly emphasizing Arabic language technologies. Current research includes:
- Grammatical error correction
- Text generation
- Computational morphology
- Syntactic parsing
- Dialect and non-standard language modeling
- Pedagogical applications
- Machine translation
- Text analytics
Since its inception in 2014, the lab has produced over 200 publications and developed more than 20 language resources and tools.
The position is open at the Research Scientist level (open rank; requires more than 3 years post-PhD). Candidates should possess a PhD with at least 6 years of experience in computer science, computer engineering, computational linguistics, language technologies, artificial intelligence, or a closely related field, alongside substantial research experience and a strong publication record in leading journals and conferences.
Responsibilities:
- Lead innovative research projects in NLP and related fields.
- Contribute to the development of open-source tools and resources.
- Mentor junior researchers and students.
- Publish research findings in top-tier venues.
- Participate in collaborative research and grant-development activities.
- Expertise in machine learning and NLP is essential.
- Knowledge of Arabic and experience in Arabic NLP is desirable but not mandatory.
