About the Role / About the Job
As a Powertrain Robotics Engineer, you will be pivotal in supporting robot commissioning, programming, recovery, and tooling integration across AMP-2 Powertrain robotic cells. Joining at the facility launch, you will work hands-on to ensure the uptime of FANUC, ABB, and KUKA cells from their initial commissioning through to the volume ramp-up phase. Your contributions will directly impact cycle time and safety compliance in a cutting-edge manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Robot Integration, Commissioning, Teaching & Programming for FANUC, ABB, and KUKA

1. Robot Integration, commissioning, teaching, and programming for FANUC, ABB, and KUKA
2. Support offline programming and simulation activities
3. Maintain and optimize the robots to maximize throughput throughout the asset's lifecycle.

• Robot Recovery & Troubleshooting

1. Diagnose robot faults: encoder, drive, cables, controller, program issues, etc.
2. Support production recovery events, including robot resynchronization and program restoration
3. Conduct structured RCA for repeating robot failures.

• Tooling (EOAT) Integration

1. Support end-of-arm tooling design reviews, integration, and change management
2. Troubleshoot EOAT issues.

• Robot Safety Support

1. Support robot safety validation activities
2. Ensure safety configurations, light curtains, and interlocks are maintained and validated.

• HV Safety & Compliance

1. Enforce HV LOTO, HVIL continuity, and mandatory HV PPE for all work on or near EV Powertrain equipment
2. Comply with SASO, IEC 60204, and functional safety standards (ISO 13849 / IEC 62061)
3. Support HV emergency response, including thermal runaway isolation and battery-related incident procedures
4. Achieve and maintain HV safety competency appropriate to scope of work.

• Launch Governance & Ramp-Up

1. Support AMP-2 Safe Launch activities, run-at-rate events, and capacity verification within scope.
2. Contribute to Launch Readiness Reviews, Layered Process Audits, and Process Confirmation routines
3. Participate in QRQC / RCCA escalations during launch and ramp-up phases.

• Robot Application Engineering & Validation

1. Develop maintainable robot programs, frames, TCPs, payload data, zones, mastering, backups, and recovery standards; validate path accuracy and cycle repeatability.
2. Integrate EOAT, vision, conveyors, safety PLC handshakes, process equipment, and MES/traceability signals; confirm failure-mode recovery and restart behavior.
3. Execute reach, collision, singularity, and cycle-time studies using RoboGuide, RobotStudio, or KUKA.Sim and verify results on equipment.
4. Maintain controlled robot/EOAT backups, revision history, spare strategy, and preventive-maintenance inputs.

• Launch Governance, Change Control & Operational Readiness

1. Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, equipment acceptance, Safe Launch, run-at-rate, and capacity verification with objective evidence and disciplined punch-list closure.
2. Control production, process, software, and test changes through documented risk assessment, approvals, validation, revision history, and rollback or containment planning.
3. Participate in readiness reviews, Layered Process Audits, Process Confirmation, and QRQC/RCCA; close assigned actions with verified effectiveness.

• Safety, Quality, Data Integrity & Compliance

1. Apply role-specific HV LOTO/HVIL, machine safety, stored-energy isolation, electrical safe-work, and PPE requirements; never bypass safety devices or product protections.
2. Protect product genealogy, calibrated-tool status, test/measurement integrity, document control, and audit-ready objective evidence.
3. Comply with applicable AMP-2, SASO, Saudi labor/EHS, IATF 16949, IEC 60204, and functional-safety requirements within assigned scope.

• Saudization, Capability Transfer & Collaboration

1. Build Saudi national capacity through structured OJT, skills matrices, practical assessment, certification, cross-training, and documented knowledge transfer.
2. Create technical standards, troubleshooting guides, and training material.
3. Collaborate across Production, Quality, Maintenance, Automation/Robotics, Manufacturing Engineering, EHS, IT/OT, MES, Supply Chain, Product Engineering, and suppliers.

Skills

• Strong hands-on robotics programming skills (FANUC, ABB, etc.)
• Working knowledge of robot safety standards
• Structured troubleshooting mindset
• Effective communicator in bilingual (English/Arabic) technical environments
• Technical standards, structured problem solving, risk-based decision making, and controlled documentation
• Data literacy: KPI definition, trend analysis, evidence-based validation, and clear executive/shop-floor communication
• Cross-functional influence, supplier coordination, and disciplined ownership in a greenfield launch environment
• Coaching, competency assessment, and knowledge transfer in a multicultural English/Arabic workplace.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Robotics Engineering
• 3+ years in industrial robotics
• Hands-on programming experience with FANUC, ABB, or KUKA
• Fluent in English; Arabic strongly preferred
• Preferred: multi-brand robotics experience; EOAT integration; greenfield launch experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with commissioning, FAT/SAT, launch, production readiness, or high-volume manufacturing ramp within the role discipline
• Working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP/change control, machine/HV safety, and traceability requirements applicable to the role
• Lean/Six Sigma, greenfield EV/automotive launch, and workforce-development experience.
