Role Overview:
As a Safety Engineer, you will lead the deployment and operationalization of automated moderation and guardrail systems to protect our platforms. This product ownership role requires you to oversee the technical execution of safety systems from architecture to deployment and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable backend infrastructure for content moderation and abuse detection.
- Architect robust APIs, data pipelines, and service architectures supporting moderation workflows.
- Implement monitoring and observability systems, establishing SLIs, SLOs, and performance benchmarks.
- Collaborate with ML engineers to translate research models into production-ready systems.
- Drive technical decisions and contribute to the safety roadmap for platform guardrails.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of backend software engineering experience building production systems at scale.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, and Python (asynchronous Python, backend frameworks).
- Proficient in cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), containerization (Docker/K8s), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana) and building observable systems.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience in Trust & Safety, Content Moderation, or Integrity engineering.
- Familiarity with MLOps, SQL, real-time streaming systems, and modern frontend frameworks.
