In this role, as a Safety Officer, you will liaise with the Safety Manager and Contractors to enhance and implement Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management practices. You will play a crucial role in adopting HSE policies and ensuring compliance with safety standards in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Implement the company's HSE Policy, HSE Plan, and HSE legislation, monitor HSE performance and targets, and recommend measures for improvement.
- Collaborate with Safety Manager and Contractors to enhance and apply Corporate HSE Management ethics.
- Monitor contractors for compliance with safety measures and best practices.
- Review Hazard Analysis/Risk Assessment Plans for key activities and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control measures, job safety plans, and method statements at the site, reporting to the Resident Engineer for immediate rectification.
- Review and monitor contractors' monthly HSE inspections/reports.
- Conduct monthly Safety meetings to set targets for outstanding issues, prepare and submit minutes to relevant parties for follow-up.
- Review Emergency Preparedness and response protocols, Permit to Work systems, Toolbox Talks, HSE meetings, and contractors' HSE statistics and records as per company requirements.
- Review incident and accident investigation reports from contractors, communicate learning points, and monitor immediate and follow-up actions to minimize/prevent recurrence.
- Perform additional responsibilities as appropriate to this position.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- A Degree or Diploma in Engineering or a relevant discipline from a recognized University.
- 8+ years of related work experience in Health and Safety within infrastructure-related projects.
- Recognized Health and Safety education, certifications (ADVETI), license or training in UAE (e.g. NEBOSH, OSHAD - Qudorat/ADOSH SF, First Aid, Fire Safety, ISO 45001, etc).
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- At least 2 years of recent experience in supervising construction of infrastructure work.
- Relevant experience in an engineering consulting firm is preferable.
- Familiarity with the UAE context and possessing a driving license is advantageous.
