This position is responsible for managing safety occurrence reporting, data analytics, business intelligence, and digital transformation initiatives within Safety, Risk & Security. The Safety and BI Specialist ensures the timely processing, classification, analysis, and reporting of safety occurrences while developing data-driven solutions that support proactive hazard identification, risk management, regulatory compliance, and safety performance monitoring. The role serves as a focal point for transforming safety data into actionable insights through advanced analytics, automation, and visualization tools.

Responsibilities
- Manage and process safety occurrence reports, ensuring accurate classification, risk assessment, data quality, and timely assignment to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure timely reporting of Mandatory Occurrence Reports (MORs) to relevant authorities within 72 hours.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance interactive dashboards, scorecards, and reports using Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, Qlik Sense, and other analytics platforms.
- Design and maintain data models, datasets, data pipelines, and automated data integration processes to support safety, risk, security, and compliance reporting.
- Perform data analysis, trend monitoring, and SPI/KPI reporting to identify emerging risks, operational issues, and opportunities for safety performance improvement.
- Develop and automate recurring reports, alerts, and workflows using BI, AI, and automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Utilize Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and AI tools to support predictive analysis, anomaly detection, data classification, and insight generation.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts and SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, validation, automation, and advanced analytics.
- Support safety investigations and management decision-making by providing timely analytical insights, statistical reports, visualizations, and trend analyses.
- Collaborate with Safety, Risk, Security, Operational Departments, and IT teams to gather business requirements and deliver data-driven solutions that support organizational objectives.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and digital transformation by implementing innovative BI, AI, and automation solutions that enhance safety reporting, risk management, and operational performance.
- Produce statistical reports as required by the VP Safety or by Senior Manager Flight Safety or Occurrence Data Manager.
About You
The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years' relevant experience, or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 5 years' experience.
- Flight Engineer, Aviation Engineer, Grounded Flight Crew (medical), Commercial Pilot License holder, Aviation Graduate, Aviation diploma course, or Cabin Crew with appropriate knowledge and experience in safety.
- Experience in Airline operations as Flight Crew or as an engineer with a safety background, including analysis of occurrence data and flight data.
- Experience in business intelligence (Power BI or QlikView or Qliksense) and Excel Macro.
- Computer and database literate; prior experience in use of AQD, Airfase, Aerobyte, Q-Pulse, and other similar safety tools will be useful.
- Working knowledge of aviation and aircraft systems.
- Familiarity with legislation (ICAO, EASA Regulations or FAR and Ops Manuals) and international safety bodies such as IATA, Flight Safety Foundation.
