Your Role and Responsibilities
The SAP TRM Consultant will support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of tax administration processes within the SAP Tax & Revenue Management system. This role focuses on key functional areas including taxpayer registration, obligation setup, returns processing, payment posting, and refund management. The consultant will work closely with business users, technical teams, and the TRM Lead to deliver accurate, compliant, and efficient tax functionalities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in workshops with business stakeholders to capture requirements for registration/deregistration, returns, payments, and refunds processes.
  • Document business processes, functional requirements, and system rules.
  • Assist in performing gap analysis and proposing workable system solutions within SAP TRM.
  • Configure TRM components related to registration workflows, form bundles, obligation rules, returns processes, payment schemas, and refund procedures.
  • Support FI-CA configuration including payment clearing, dunning, account determination, and disbursement workflows.
  • Maintain tax product types, tax periods, event triggers, workflows, and validation rules.
  • Assist the TRM Lead with functional design tasks, integration requirements, and preparation of functional specifications.
  • Work with developers to clarify requirements and validate enhancements.
  • Review solution documents and configuration changes for accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and execute unit, system, integration, and user acceptance test cases for assigned TRM functionalities.
  • Validate registration processes, return calculations, payment posting rules, and refund scenarios.
  • Identify, log, and collaborate on resolving defects.
  • Support integration testing with external portals, payment gateways, banks, and internal SAP modules.
  • Assist in data mapping, cleansing, validation, and migration for taxpayer master data, obligations, historical returns, and open-item balances.
  • Prepare configuration documentation, process flows, test scripts, and user guides.
  • Provide post-go-live support for TRM processes in registration, returns, payments, and refunds.
  • Analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement configuration fixes or improvements.
  • Recommend enhancements or automation opportunities to improve system efficiency.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience working as an SAP TRM Consultant in public-sector or tax administration environments.
  • Strong understanding of taxpayer processes including registration/deregistration, returns, payments, and refunds.
  • Ability to interpret business requirements and convert them into SAP TRM configurations and functional specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to support complex functional scenarios.
  • Effective communication and documentation skills for cross-functional engagement.

Technical Expertise

  • Hands-on configuration experience in SAP Tax & Revenue Management (TRM), specifically in Registration, Returns, Payments, and Refunds modules.
  • Working knowledge of FI-CA (Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable), including payment clearing, dunning, account determination, and disbursement processes.
  • Experience supporting data migration activities, including data mapping, validation, and reconciliation.
