Position

The Directed Energy Research Center is seeking a highly motivated SAR Data Processing Engineer to contribute to the development and implementation of a spaceborne SAR payload. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing algorithms and pipelines to process SAR raw data and form level-1 images. You will support calibration and validation activities and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance remote sensing applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing SAR signal processing algorithms.
  • Process raw SAR data into focused image products.
  • Apply basic image enhancement and filtering techniques.
  • Validate SAR image quality using standard metrics.
  • Support radiometric and geometric calibration workflows.
  • Create Python or MATLAB scripts for data processing automation.
  • Prepare and analyze datasets from lab and field tests.
  • Document SAR processing workflows and testing outcomes.
  • Participate in technical meetings, trainings, and reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Update algorithms according to the state-of-the-art in SAR processing trends and tools.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on communication systems and/or digital signal processing.
  • Strong interest in radar signal processing, satellite imaging, or geospatial technologies.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.
  • Familiarity with Fourier Transform, convolution, and digital signal processing (DSP).
  • Passionate about Remote Sensing Space Programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a high-tech, research-driven environment.
