Key Responsibilities:
- Handle escalations from L1 teams for security incidents, service degradation, and infrastructure issues.
- Troubleshoot firewall policies, NAT, session handling, VPN tunnels, routing, and connectivity issues impacting security devices.
- Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and availability of security infrastructure.
- Implement approved firewall policies, security configurations, and controlled infrastructure changes.
- Perform software patching, firmware updates, and minor upgrades in accordance with change management processes.
- Analyze security logs, traffic patterns, events, and recurring incidents to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Drive restoration activities for Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents within defined SLAs.
- Coordinate with OEM vendors and L3 support teams for advanced troubleshooting and product-related issues.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and recommend preventive and corrective actions to minimize recurring incidents.
- Support security hardening initiatives, configuration reviews, and compliance with organizational security baselines.
- Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, Method of Procedure (MOP) documents, knowledge base articles, and known error records.
- Support internal audits, compliance reporting, governance activities, and operational reviews.
- Mentor L1 engineers, contribute to knowledge sharing, and identify opportunities for automation and operational improvements.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3–6+ years of experience in Security Operations, Firewall Operations, or Network Security Support.
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise security infrastructure and network security technologies.
- Experience troubleshooting firewalls, VPNs, NAT, routing, and network connectivity issues.
- Knowledge of incident, problem, and change management processes (ITIL preferred).
- Experience implementing controlled security changes and performing impact assessments.
- Understanding of security hardening, configuration baselines, and compliance best practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience working with OEM/vendor support for issue resolution.
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, logging, and ticketing systems.
Preferred Technical Skills:
- Next-Generation Firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco Firepower, Check Point)
- VPN Technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN)
- IDS/IPS, Proxy, Web Security, and Secure Remote Access
- SIEM and Log Analysis Platforms (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar, ArcSight)
- Network protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, and routing fundamentals
- Windows and Linux administration fundamentals
Preferred Certifications:
- Fortinet NSE / FCP
- Palo Alto PCNSA / PCNSE
- Cisco CCNP Security or CCNA Security
- CompTIA Security+
- ITIL Foundation
- Any relevant cybersecurity certification is an advantage.
