Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a clear chain of command and responsibility, directly reporting to the Assistant Operations Manager, Assistant Director, and Director of Security.
- Perform duties according to the Duty Roster outlined by the Director of Security or in their absence, the Assistant Director of Security.
- Adopt a service-oriented approach that fosters a harmonious and hospitable environment:
- Be accountable for the performance of on-duty security personnel and all security matters.
- Promote a “gentleman” image for the security service rather than a strict officer persona.
- Act on behalf of the Hotelkeeper regarding security matters.
- Ensure the safety of guests, staff, property, and hotel assets.
- Assist other departments as necessary to enhance services beyond primary security duties.
- Act as a host for the hotel by welcoming arriving guests and bidding farewell to departing guests.
- Provide guidance to guests unfamiliar with hotel locations.
- Promote additional hotel facilities to all visitors.
- Train new LPOs (Licensed Premises Officers) on job knowledge and skills, including updating SOP exams.
- Conduct inspections of security personnel ensuring they present properly and adhere to appearance protocols.
- Enforce discipline and address incidents of indiscipline appropriately.
- Conduct regular checks on all field officers to ensure they are alert and performing duties efficiently. Patrol the entire building at least twice during each shift.
- Conduct investigations into incidents of criminal acts, losses, accidents, and staff misconduct affecting guests or hotel operations.
- Maintain departmental integrity by monitoring officers' adherence to expected conduct and supporting their development.
- Implement surveillance of hotel staff to ensure compliance with House Rules, and monitor movements of staff under investigation.
- Cultivate informers to gather intelligence relevant to departmental security needs.
- Maintain peace and address criminal or disruptive individuals on the hotel premises.
- Participate in special events requiring security management.
- Keep the Duty Shift Security Supervisor and other management informed on all security matters.
- Inspect all security equipment for functionality, including fire fighting and CCTV equipment, and conduct routine checks to ensure proper maintenance.
- Prepare meal rosters for shifts and document departmental activities in the Daily Security Report.
- Attend all mandatory training sessions, briefings, and departmental meetings.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a security role, preferably in a 5-star hotel, with at least 1 year in a supervisory position.
- Post-secondary school education; professional security qualifications preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
