Join our People team, responsible for managing and enhancing all aspects of human resources and employee experience in a dynamic and esteemed global law firm. As a core member of the Middle East People Team, you will help translate our business strategy into talent imperatives, focusing on profitable growth, engaged people, and outstanding client relationships. This role will involve providing operational support on daily people matters, advising on key HR processes, and collaborating with the wider EMEA HR team to drive forward the global and regional people agenda.

Duties and Accountabilities
Recruitment

  • Support stakeholders with drafting business cases for hiring requests across the Middle East.
  • Work with the Recruitment team on candidate offers, including advising on appropriate levels and salaries in accordance with experience and benchmarking.
  • Collaborate closely with the Early Careers Team on trainee rotations and identifying NQ roles.

Induction and Onboarding

  • Work with the HR Operational Delivery (HROD) team to design, refine, and implement onboarding processes for the Middle East.
  • Organize and present the Middle East induction, reviewing materials regularly for global consistency.
  • Meet and greet new joiners, conducting new joiner check-ins during probation.
  • Track all probations in the Middle East, including conducting first-stage probation reviews and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Analyze new joiner feedback, proposing improvements to processes, environment, and culture.
  • Assist with joiner visa applications and drafting associated documents for both assignments and transfers.

Employee Relations

  • Act as the primary contact for all policy-related queries, ensuring advice is applied in a commercial and practical way.
  • Interpret complex policy and employment legislation to provide guidance and support, escalating when required.
  • Guide managers on employee performance and conduct concerns.
  • Lead investigations for disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Participate in meetings and formal hearings, ensuring compliance with local law and best practices.
  • Manage maternity/paternity leaves and oversee long-term absences and occupational health cases.
  • Conduct exit interviews, synthesizing key messages and proposing improvement strategies.

Performance Management

  • Collaborate with the HR Manager on the performance evaluation process and salary and bonus processes.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for evaluation queries and system training.
  • Assist with departmental moderation meetings and manage communications with support teams regarding annual review processes.

Mobility

  • Work with the Global Mobility team on visa applications and draft associated documents.
  • Manage client secondments for respective groups.
  • Develop processes for pre and post-reviews to optimize secondment success.

Operational

  • Mentor junior team members and maintain relevant People data sources.
  • Review monthly audit reports and take action as necessary.
  • Analyze attrition data quarterly, reporting insights and proposing addressing strategies.
  • Build relationships with other Business Support functions, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Maintain relationship with HROD to ensure accurate operational processes and monitor quality.
  • Lead specific HR projects and keep up-to-date with HR trends and best practices.

Qualifications

  • CIPD qualification (full or part) or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Professional services background; experience in a global law firm preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to question existing procedures.
  • Team player enhancing the reputation and success of the People team.
  • High levels of integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to act with discretion.
  • Excellent technical skills and willingness to learn new systems (knowledge of PeopleSoft or WorkDay advantageous).
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously or as part of a team.

Other Information

  • This is a fixed-term contract to cover a maternity leave period.
  • This role is based in Dubai.
  • This role reports to the HR Manager - Middle East and Head of HR, Middle East.
